So basically I was thinking about Pokemon (because obviously) and I was like… what if instead of catching little creatures, you caught music notes?? And what if the "Pokeball" was a tiny notebook?? And what if every note had its own SOUND so when you catch them you can put them in order and they make a real song??
And then I just kept adding more stuff and now there are three heroines, a giant maze with hedges AND stone walls, magic batons, healing hearts, and FORTY whole levels. I'm not even kidding.
Meet the Three Heroines!! 👯♀️
When you start the game you get to pick which character you want to play as. They are SO different from each other. Like — they each look completely different and they each play different too. Here’s who they are:
Symphony (that’s ME!!) ✨
She has rainbow strands in her hair (because OBVIOUSLY) and a pink and purple dress with a gold sash. She’s the balanced one — not too fast, not too slow, just normal everything. If you’re playing for the first time I would 100% start with Symphony.
Melody ⚡
OK Melody is SO COOL. She has spiky cyan hair with neon green tips, pink headphones around her neck, and a teal jumpsuit with a lightning bolt on it. She’s like a pop star. She moves WAY faster than Symphony (+25% speed!!) but she’s a tiny bit harder at catching notes. Pick her if you want to zoom around the maze.
Aria 👑
Aria is the fancy one. She has long flowing silver-lavender hair, a real GOLD TIARA with a red gem, and a deep maroon gown with gold corset trim and pearl earrings. She walks a little slower (−10%) but she has +10% capture chance AND she has 5 hearts instead of 4. She’s amazing if you want to play it safe.
How You Play 🎮
OK so you start in this magical meadow and there are music notes just floating around being cute. You walk up to one (arrow keys, WASD, or click on it) and it starts an encounter. Then you throw your magic notebook at it!!
You only get THREE TRIES. If you miss all three the note flies away AND you lose a heart. If you lose all your hearts the whole adventure restarts at Level 1 which is HEARTBREAKING but also kind of motivating?? Don’t worry though — every 25 seconds when you’re hurt, a healing heart spawns somewhere in the maze. You only get 5 seconds to grab it before it disappears so RUN.
Once you have 15 notes in your notebook you get to compose a song with them. The game plays back all 15 in the order you caught them and it’s honestly so cool because every time you play it’s a different song (because you caught different notes in a different order). Then you level up and the whole maze rebuilds with MORE walls and MORE stone corridors and MORE rare notes.
The Maze Gets HARDER!! 🌿🧱
This was the part I worked the most on. There are TWO kinds of walls:
- Hedges — these are the green bumpy plants that look like bushes. They’re soft and squishy looking.
- Stone walls — these are gray brick walls that form actual labyrinth corridors. With doorways and dead ends and everything!!
In Level 1 there are barely any stone walls. By Level 40 the maze is COVERED in them. Each level is about 15% harder than the one before. There are 40 levels total and if you make it to the end you get the Master Composer ending. 🏆
(I’ve actually only made it to Level 8 myself so far. If you beat it before me PLEASE tell me!!)
The Notes Sound REAL 🎼
This was super important to me — every note in the game makes the actual real sound of that note. So if you catch a high A, it sounds like a high A. The lower notes sound deep and rumbly and the high ones sound bright and sparkly. There are 12 notes (the chromatic scale!!) and 5 octaves so that’s 60 different sounds. The really high octaves are super rare and they sparkle.
Magic Batons!! 🪄
Sometimes a magic baton appears in the maze. If you grab it, for like 14 seconds rare notes are way more attracted to you AND your capture chance goes up. They’re GOLD and they’re hard to miss — like a little wand with a sparkly star tip.
